BEREA, Ohio – A wanted Cleveland man, 49, and a Cleveland woman, 46, were arrested at about 10:30 p.m. March 23 after police found what they believed were illegal drugs in their car.

Police saw the couple’s Chevrolet Impala parked at Shell, 827 Front. They checked the license plate number and learned that the car’s registration had expired. Also, the car’s owner, the Cleveland man, had been arrested several times for narcotics-related offenses.

The Impala pulled out of the gas station and onto North Rocky River Drive northbound. The car stopped at the North Rocky River-Sheldon Road red light but it completely blocked the crosswalk.

Police pulled over the Impala on North Rocky River. They learned that the Cleveland man was wanted for theft in South Euclid. Also, he was wanted in Cuyahoga County for a probation violation stemming from a drug-trafficking conviction.

A police K-9 arrived and alerted officers that drugs were in the Impala.

Police found a can of “Super-X Emergency Tire Inflator” in the car. Upon grabbing the can, police noticed that it was light in weight, and that it made a rattling noise, like a can of spray paint.

Police saw that someone had tampered with or modified the bottom of the can. They twisted the bottom off the can and found a methamphetamine pipe with white residue and burn marks and a plastic bag containing meth residue in the can.

Also inside the Impala, police found a glass jar containing suspected psychedelic mushrooms, a bag of smaller plastic bags typically used to distribute narcotics and a digital scale.
